Doctor Sleep is a psychological horror novel by Stephen King and a sequel to The Shining. The story follows Danny Torrance, the young boy from The Shining, now an adult struggling with alcoholism and trauma from his childhood at the Overlook Hotel. Danny, now calling himself Dan, has inherited the same psychic abilities (“the shining”) that made him special as a child. He eventually finds solace in a small town, where he becomes friends with a young girl named Abra, who possesses an even stronger version of “the shining.”
However, their lives are threatened by a group called the True Knot, a cult of psychic vampires who feed on children with the shining. As the True Knot hunts Abra, Dan must confront his past and use his abilities to protect her and fight the cult.
Doctor Sleep explores themes of redemption, the trauma of the past, and the battle between good and evil. It blends supernatural horror with psychological depth, continuing Danny’s journey of healing and confronting his fears.
